First, which kind?

Two roads.
We cover both.

The right plan depends mostly on one thing: how much you and your spouse agree.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
UNCONTESTED

You mostly agree.

You and your spouse are aligned on the big stuff, property, kids, support. This is faster, cheaper, and usually doesn't need a courtroom.

  • Often done in 4 to 12 weeks
  • No trial, sometimes no hearing
  • Our DIY or Guided plan is plenty
DIY Filing, $299
โš”๏ธ
CONTESTED

You don't (yet).

There are real disagreements about custody, assets, or support. You'll want an attorney negotiating, and, if it comes to it, representing you in court.

  • Timeline varies, months, not weeks
  • Negotiation & possible mediation
  • Full Representation is built for this

Complaint for Divorce

Maria E. Rivera v. Marcus J. Rivera

Plaintiff, Maria Elena Rivera, residing at 1428 Cedar Lane, Newark, NJ, by way of Complaint against the Defendant, Marcus James Rivera, says:

Count I, Jurisdiction & Grounds

The Plaintiff has been a bona fide resident of the State of New Jersey for more than one year preceding the filing of this Complaint. The parties have experienced irreconcilable differences for a period of at least six (6) months which make it appropriate to dissolve the marriage.

Count II, Equitable Distribution & Support

The parties acquired certain real and personal property during the marriage. Plaintiff requests that the Court equitably distribute all marital assets and debts, and enter such orders for support as are fair and just under N.J.S.A. 2A:34-23.

Count III, Children

Two children were born of the marriage, Sofia (9) and Diego (6). Plaintiff requests joint legal custody and a parenting plan in the best interests of the children.

Common questions

Before you
decide.

The questions people ask us most before starting a divorce. Anything else, our team is a chat away.

Ask us directly โ†’
Not always. If your divorce is uncontested, you agree on property, kids, and support, many states let you file the paperwork yourself. Our DIY plan gives you the right forms; the Guided plan adds an attorney safety check; Full Representation is for when there's a real fight.
Yes. The plan price covers our work end-to-end. The one thing we can't waive is your county's court filing fee, which goes to the court, not us. We show you that number on your state's page so there are no surprises.
It happens. You can upgrade from DIY or Guided to Full Representation at any time and we'll credit what you've already paid toward the higher plan.
For a clean uncontested case, often 4 to 12 weeks depending on your state's mandatory waiting period. Contested cases take longer because, well, they're contested. Your state page lists the local waiting period.
Yes. The Guided and Full plans include parenting plans and state-formula support worksheets. Full Representation includes an attorney negotiating these on your behalf.
Absolutely, in all 50 states, with the same flat-fee plans. Our intake and documents are built to be inclusive of every family.
