What we are, what we are not, and how we are different from a law firm.

Legal Friend is an AI-powered legal document preparation service. We help you generate documents like wills, divorce paperwork, name-change kits, and more, using a guided plain-English questionnaire that produces a state-specific PDF you can sign and use.
No. We are a software company. We do not provide legal advice, and using Legal Friend does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you need advice on your specific legal situation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.
Document preparation. We can walk you through plain-English questions and generate a complete, legally formatted document. We can explain what terms mean and how processes work. We cannot tell you what to put in your document for your specific situation, or represent you in court.
All 50 U.S. states plus D.C. Our templates are kept current with state-specific legal formatting requirements.

Pick a product (e.g. a will), answer the guided questionnaire (most take 15-30 minutes), and we generate your document as a PDF you can download immediately. Each product page tells you exactly what is included.
Most documents take 15-30 minutes to fill out. You can save your progress and come back later, your answers are kept tied to your account.
Yes. Anything you have answered is saved to your account automatically. Sign back in and pick up where you left off.
For most legal documents, yes. We include detailed signing instructions for your state along with the PDF, including witness and notarization requirements where they apply.
Yes. From your dashboard you can re-open any answered questionnaire, change your answers, and regenerate the PDF. Some products include an optional updates plan for unlimited revisions.
Inside every document flow, you can ask our AI assistant a question about what a term means or how something works. The assistant is trained on our state-specific reference material; it explains things rather than advising you on your specific situation.

You can browse products and read articles without an account. To buy a document and save your progress you need an account, which takes about 30 seconds to set up.
Each product is one flat price, shown upfront on the product page. There are no hidden fees. The only optional add-on is the $29/year updates plan for unlimited revisions.
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. We do not store your card details ourselves; Stripe handles payment information directly.
Yes. The Couple, Family, and Estate Essentials bundles save you money versus buying each document on its own. Friend+ members also save 20% on every product.
Yes. We offer a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund on every document. Click a button in your dashboard and the money is back in your account in 2-3 business days.

How your data is stored, shared, and protected.

Encrypted at rest with AES-256 and encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3, stored in SOC 2-certified data centers in the United States.
Only you. Your documents are private to your account. We do not share, sell, or use your document contents for any other purpose.
No. Your answers and documents are never used to train AI models. The AI assistant inside the product runs against our maintained reference material, not against your private content.
Yes. Email us at contact@legalfriend.com from the email address tied to your account and we will permanently delete your data within 30 days, in line with our privacy policy.

No. We can explain what terms mean and how processes work, but for advice on your specific situation you should consult a licensed attorney in your state. Our team is happy to help with product questions; we will not answer "what should I do in my case."
Email replies typically arrive within about 4 business hours, weekdays. Weekend messages get answered Monday morning.
We are email-first by design. It gives us time to write thoughtful answers and follow up with anything you need.
