Legal Friend is not a law firm
We make software. Law firms make lawyers. We are not a law firm.
Legal Friend, Inc. is a technology company. We design and operate software that helps people create estate-planning and other legal documents. We are not a law firm, we do not practice law, and we cannot represent you in any matter.
If you need a law firm β for instance, you're being sued, your estate is unusually complex, or you need someone to argue your case β we'll happily refer you to one.
No legal advice (unless your attorney gives it)
The site itself isn't giving advice. The attorney you talk to might be.
Information presented on legalfriend.com β including in the document-builder, the blog, the help center, and these legal pages β is for general informational purposes only. It is not legal advice and should not be relied on as such.
Personalized legal advice comes from licensed attorneys, in writing, after they've reviewed your specific situation. That happens during an attorney review or consultation booked through the platform.
No attorney-client relationship by default
Using the website doesn't make us your attorney. Booking a review does.
Browsing our site, creating an account, or building a draft document does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and any attorney or between you and Legal Friend.
An attorney-client relationship is established only when (a) you submit a completed document for attorney review, or (b) you book and complete a paid consultation with one of our attorneys.
State-specific limitations
Some states regulate online legal services tightly. We comply with each one.
Laws governing wills, trusts, and other estate-planning documents vary significantly by state. We tailor every document to the state where you live β but if you move, your documents may need updating.
If you live outside the United States, our service is not available to you. If you split your time between states, your domicile (the state you intend to make your permanent home) determines which state's law applies.
Accuracy & completeness
We try really hard. Laws still change. Don't rely on us as your only source.
We update our templates and content regularly as laws change. Even so, we can't guarantee that everything on the site is current, complete, or applicable to your situation.
Always confirm critical details β especially anything time-sensitive β with a licensed attorney in your state. For complex estates, multi-state property, blended families, or business interests, attorney review is highly recommended.
